The Grace of Finding
Amira had spent three years in quiet prayer — not for a husband, but for clarity. She trusted that God's plan required patience, not searching. Tariq had returned from a year of study in Istanbul with a changed heart, seeking a partner not in haste but in sincerity.
Their families had known each other for years. The introduction came quietly — through a mutual teacher, after Friday Jumu'ah, in a conversation neither planned. What followed was not a love story that happened to them. It was a love story that had been prepared for them.
The Decision to Witness
The Prophet ﷺ said: "There is nothing better for two who love one another than marriage." When Tariq made his intention clear and Amira gave her consent, they understood that this was not merely a social arrangement — it was an act of worship.
They asked their families, their community, and God to bear witness. To witness is to take part. You who are invited are not spectators — you are participants in a blessing. Your presence is itself a prayer.

A Nikah is simple, brief, and profound. Below is what will unfold — and what it means — so that every guest may be fully present.
A Note for All Guests
You do not need to be Muslim to be fully present at this ceremony. You are here because Amira and Tariq love you. Nothing will be asked of you except your presence and your blessing. The ceremony lasts approximately 30 minutes.
الترحيب
Al-Tarheeb — The Welcome
Guests are welcomed into the masjid or ceremony hall. Shoes are removed as a sign of entering sacred space. Seating is arranged to allow all guests — of any background — to be present and comfortable.
For all guests
For guests unfamiliar with masjid etiquette: modest dress is appreciated. You will be guided to your seat. Simply be present — your presence is the gift.
الخطبة
Al-Khutbah — The Sermon
A short sermon is delivered by the Imam — typically three Quranic verses and a hadith about the sanctity of marriage. This is not a lecture but a blessing spoken aloud for the couple and all witnesses.
For all guests
The sermon is in Arabic and English. You do not need to understand Arabic — the English translation is provided. Simply receive the words as a blessing.
الإيجاب والقبول
Al-Ijab wal-Qabul — The Vows
The Imam asks Tariq: "Do you accept Amira as your wife, according to the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ?" Tariq says: "Qabiltu" — I accept. This is the sacred exchange. Two witnesses sign the Nikah contract.

This is the moment. The room falls quiet. You may feel moved. That is appropriate — what you are witnessing is a covenant made before God.
الدعاء
Al-Du'a — The Communal Prayer
The Imam leads a brief prayer of blessing for the couple — for their home, their children, their faith, and their love. All present are invited to say 'Ameen' together.
For all guests
When the Imam pauses, you will hear 'Ameen' from the congregation. Guests of all faiths are warmly invited to say Ameen — it simply means 'So be it.' Your voice is part of the blessing.
